On May 16, 2025, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Lesseps Rehabilitation Service (SR Lesseps), the CPB Serveis Salut Mental Foundation organized a scientific conference at Palau Macaya. The event brought together over one hundred participants, including professionals, service users, and families, and served as the venue for the presentation of a pioneering study on the effectiveness of psychosocial rehabilitation in Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), published in the journal FEARP. <\/p>\n

The day began with institutional speeches by representatives of the healthcare sector, who highlighted the important work of CPB SSM and its role in developing innovative mental health care models. In his address, Mr. Josep Tristany <\/strong>, Director of the Mental Health and Addictions Master Plan of the Government of Catalonia, presented the rollout of the community-based mental health care model and outlined the Department of Health’s key initiatives to reinforce specialized care \u2014 particularly for BPD, which remains a major challenge for the public health system due to its clinical complexity and its significant social and familial impact. along with Dr. Maria Jes\u00fas Rufat<\/strong>, Head of the Transversal Program for Personality Disorders at CPB SSM, followed with a presentation of the improvement plan for BPD care in Catalonia<\/strong>, based on a stepped-care model.<\/p>\n

La Ms. Victoria L\u00f3pez <\/strong>, coordinator of SR Lesseps, gave a heartfelt overview of the service\u2019s journey, founded in 2015 as a response to the lack of specialized rehabilitation resources for people with personality disorders. Over the past ten years, the service has demonstrated how structured, person-centered psychosocial care can significantly improve the functionality, well-being, and quality of life of individuals living with BPD. <\/p>\n

The panel discussions \u2014 \u201cDay-to-day life at SR Lesseps: The experience of users and the professional team\u201d (moderated by Tina Ure\u00f1a,<\/strong> Head of the Rehabilitation Area at CPB SSM) and \u201cFuture directions in BPD care\u201d<\/strong> (moderated by Dr. Joan Vegu\u00e9<\/strong>, Medical Director of CPB SSM) \u2014 provided enriching spaces where both professionals and users shared their experiences of growth, change, and recovery. The panels also explored the future of BPD care in the areas of child and adolescent mental health, research, and specialized training, with contributions from experts across Spain. <\/p>\n

This conference not only commemorated a decade of dedicated work but also served as a space for recognition, reflection, and renewed momentum to continue building a community-based, inclusive care model centered on dignity and individual potential.<\/p>\n
